Welcome Message to the International Community
59th International Conference on Applied Ethology (ISAE 2025)
It is my great pleasure and honour to welcome you to the 59th International Conference on Applied Ethology, held under the inspiring theme “Shared Worlds: Ethology-Driven Animal Welfare and Coexistence.” This theme resonates deeply with both the scientific vision of applied ethology and the cultural philosophy of India.
India is one of the world’s oldest living civilizations, rooted in the timeless principle of वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम्—the world is one family. plays a vital role in deepening our understanding of how scientific insight can improve animal welfare while responsibly meeting human needs. The work of this community is central to creating more ethical, evidence-based, and compassionate systems across agriculture, biomedical research, wildlife management, and companion animal care.
The mission of the International Society for Applied Ethology (ISAE)—to advance science, education, and animal welfare through applied animal behaviour research—aligns seamlessly with this ethos. By fostering dialogue through its international congresses, regional meetings, and its official journal Applied Animal Behaviour Science, ISAE plays a vital role in deepening our understanding of how scientific insight can improve animal welfare while responsibly meeting human needs. Guided by the values of Character, Creativity, Competence, and Commitment, the university provides an intellectually vibrant environment that nurtures innovation, interdisciplinary dialogue, and socially meaningful research. It is a fitting venue for a conference that seeks not only scientific excellence, but also transformative impact on society.
As we gather here, we bring together diverse cultures, disciplines, and perspectives, united by a shared commitment to improving the lives of animals and strengthening human–animal coexistence. I warmly invite the international ISAE community to engage fully in the scientific sessions, discussions, and collaborations, and also to experience India’s rich cultural heritage and hospitality
